Liveblogging (sort of) from Foster Headquarters!

Before I hot the doors for the evening, I thought I'd stop in and report what's happening out here in IL-14.

There's tons of people out from within the state and  from across the country. Several "super volunteers" who volunteered with Bill in Pennsylvania hopped planes out to Aurora and are pounding the pavement with the rest of us.

The scientist and engineer activists are out in full effect, including current and former Fermilab scientists and support staff and academic colleagues of Bill's. There are several people here from around the country who went to grad school with Bill and are incredibly excited about his campaign.

Labor is on board with folks from IUPAT, SEIU, AFSCME, IBEW, and Letter Carriers everywhere. The Letter Carriers local in Aurora is one of the most militant unions I've had the pleasure to know and work with! You've got to love militant mailmen and women who want to see a change in their government.

The Seals campaign has sent a bunch of people and the Harper campaign, too. Even Jill Morgenthaler running in IL-06 sent people! Obama's Illinois organization is on board, too. In fact, I received a call from Obama's Chicago headquarters this morning asking me to volunteer! The woman on the other end of the line was pretty heartened to hear that I was already here!

I said "sort of" liveblogging because I'm not sure when I'll be back.

The turf is all cut for tomorrow and we're ready to go! And the best part?

There's no sign of Oberweis' people on the street ANYWHERE!

Where will you be tomorrow night when the returns come in?

Oberweis explains using fake people in ads, and says he's mad that people see him as anti-immigrant.

Guess I'm kind of using this as a Special Election Open Thread. You mind?

GOTV!!!!!!!!

No sign of Oberweis people (4.00 / 1)
is a wonderful, wonderful thing.  You always hear about the Republican's machine-like ability to GOTV, but that has got to take a hit when you have an incumbent in office for so long. In other words, perhaps they don't have the kind of networks in place that they might have in other areas where they have had a recent fight for the seat. Let's hope!

Thanks for the update -- I will be out there tomorrow doing GOTV.

Basic stuff: The common wealth should be used for the common good, not to enrich the well-connected few.

They sure have a lot of huge signs out there (0.00 / 0)

All campaigns on board! (0.00 / 0)
Melissa Bean campaign has been phone banking all week and is sending volunteers, Schakowsky is sending troops and so is Seals and Durbin. This has to be a turnout game, so all hands on deck!

A party official from Maryland was in today. He has the entire party structure of Maryland phonebanking!

Members of Rahm Emanuel's staff will be doing GOTV tomorrow as will Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky. You read that right. The Congresswoman will be out knocking doors with the rest of us! She rules!

More and more folks are coming out of the woodwork.

That is a replica of the doorhangers (0.00 / 0)
I put out over a 100 of them yesterday in the northern part of Aurora off 5th Ave. east of Farnsworth. The first subdivision was all new homes. No trees, no windbreaks of any kind. man that was cold. Dress warmly in layers folks. If you hustle you stay warmer.

If it's that windy again today put those doorhangers in the screen door, jam them securely in a door crevice or tuck a corner under the doormat. Do not hang them from the door handle or they'll blow off into the bushes where they won't be seen til spring before you get to the end of the street.

The staffer warned me the second precinct she was sending to me to was scary. She sent two girls there the day before and they were afraid to get out of the car. The only thing I found scary about it during daylight were all those stairs. What the hell, marching up and down stairs gives you buns of steel!

When I went back to Geneva at about 4:30 I was happy to see an almost empty office. Just a couple of staffers left, everybody else was out on the streets.

But make no mistake, Repubs are out there. We won't see them in force in our target precincts but it's a huge district and they'll be turning their voters out today. No time to be complacent. Let's win this thing and party tonight!

Was getting those hangers out and a postal worker whose house I saw those out on his route the day before and absolutely loved them.

No surprise here.  It is Oberwuss.  The spoiled brat GOP's poster boy.
