"Political Punks"

You got to love Lipinski supporters:

The left-wing extremist groups trying to defeat Congressman Lipinski are political punks who snicker and sneer at Southwest Siders like us. They laugh at traditional values. They mock people who go to church. They dismiss senior citizens as irrelevant relics of a bygone era. They look down their educated noses at blue-collar men and women who work for a living. They bad-mouth police and other public safety employees - except when they need a cop, of course. And they give the finger (figuratively and literally) to the men and women of the American military.

You know, I think he left out the part about eating babies. This would be bad enough if it was just some guy with a blog. But this rant, as picked up on dKos (they've got a scan of it with Lipinski's logo) went out in flyer form paid for by Lipinski's campaign.

And the insults just get deeper...

Just a reminder, this language was released and paid for by Lipinski's campaign:

[W]e were working, sweating, building and strengthening the Democratic Party while they were still crying in their cribs because their diapers were full.

Ya, and your mother wears combat boots! What is this, second grade?

I like this part the best - as Lipinski didn't see the need to reprint it in the flyer - especially after complaining about all us punks from outside the district working to beat Lipinski through the Democratic process:

Unfortunately for me, the Marquette Park neighborhood I love and fight for is just outside the boundaries of the Third Congressional District. So I can't cast a vote in the Democratic Primary for Congressman Lipinski.

Doh! Punked! But he did get this part correct:

So clearly, this is more than a re-election battle for Congressman Lipinski. This is a war for the heart and soul of the Democratic Party.

As someone 30 years older than that snot-nosed kid Dan Lipinski, I resent being told that I consider people my age irrelevant relics of a bygone era. And yeah, I have a PhD. So does Dan Lipinski. But unlike Dan, who grew up in an affluent, well-educated household, I was not only the first member of my family to go to college but the first (barring one uncle) to finish high school. As a young girl, my mother was out in the fields picking cotton. What does Dan Lipinski know about blue-collar working men and women?

Hey Michael (0.00 / 0)
Beautiful new look!  I go away for a few hours and the place has been cleaned up!

And hey, I guess I'm a punk!  I've never been called a punk before!  Though I guess I am over-educated (and under-employed, but what can you do in this economy?).

Gosh, i don't consider covering up for the Bush Administration's incompetence in caring for the men and women who've come back from the Wars injured to be pro-military ....

Thanks (0.00 / 0)
I've been called lots of things, but never "punk" either.

Talk about the 11th hour.

How many early votes there?... (0.00 / 0)
I've been wondering about the effect of 'October surprise' type drops as early voting picks up.
