This evening, I was watching Hardball and saw that Peter Roskam is trying to grab Obama's coattails with a website, "Obama Voters for Roskam."

Benny :: Peter Roskam is Borrowing Gordon Smith's Playbook
I had thought Roskam had a small to comfortable lead in the 6th district.  But I guess the Rethugs are trying to run away from the McPalin disaster bus.

Gordon Smith tried to do the same in Oregon in the US Senate race against Jeff Merkley.  Luckily, Russ Feingold, Al Gore, and a few other folks are helping Merkley to debunk those myths.   What is being done to debunk Roskam, given the record of his votes support Bush-McCain policies 90% of the time?

Sorry for the short diary, but I hope the upstaters or those in IL-6 can shed some light on this latest development.

This morning's Sun-Times article (0.00 / 0)
on local Congressional races led with this. They pointed out that Sen. Obama's expression of personal admiration for Roskam was followed by a long list of points on which they disagreed.

The article suggets that Roskam is concerned about the Obama coatails effect. I think a lot of Illinois Republicans are. This is, after all, Illinois.

Coattails (0.00 / 0)
I do my best to exploit the coattail effect in my precinct.  For example, a rash of yard sign stealings presented the opportunity to approach those households to display a Morgenthaler signs while I tried to replace their Obama signs.

I wish someone (0.00 / 0)
were running ads that counteracted those nasty nasty Roskam/NRCC ads.
